The crazy fun weekend all started when my brother and Melinda surprised everyone by flying into town. On Friday, my sister and her family came down and everyone stayed at my house to watch the world cup....fun fun!
On Saturday afternoon the skies cleared up enough for us to have our family reunion/July bday/ housewarming party. There were probably about 40 people there, so much fun! It would have been awesome to have used the backyard too, but Hurricane Alex decided to linger long enough to make it too wet. We had a great time eating drinking and playing games. The kids probably had the most fun playing with all the toys and swimming in 3 pools we set up in the backyard. After everyone left, the immediate fam stayed and we all played apples to apples until midnight. Somehow we Wellens even make that into a competitive match....ahhh good times :)
On Sunday we slept in and made a HUGE 4th of July brunch. It was delish!! Then we dressed up the kids and took them to the club for the carnival and firework celebration. There was a huge slide, facepainters, men on stilts that juggled, 2 bouncy houses and a bunch of carnival rides. The kids had SOOOO much fun! Then we all went to the terrace and had a super fantastic brunch. Its the first time my parents, brother sister and I were all together in one place in a long time. It was a great holiday and a great bday for my sis and mama. The firework show was spectacular! They did the show to a bunch of songs and the fireworks were big and bright! This was especially awesome because it was the first year that the twinzos got to watch and ooooh and ahhhh at the show. Last year we were moving back to TX from our VERY SHORT move out to Cali.
Brooke and Braelynn both looked at the fireworks with the same amazement I did when I was there age at the club. It filled my heart to the brim seeing my children share the same amazing memories I used to with my family. Independence Day was just perfect!!!!
